MY BACKGROUND
My mother supported our family as a professional seamstress and my grandmother was a quilter. I threaded needles, made doll clothes, and stitched samplers at 5 years old. I loved the jewel colored threads and fabrics. These roots determined my life's path of degrees in Textiles/Fiber Art/K-12 education and a Masters in Studio/Fine art.

MY MEDIUM
I stitch. I stitch by hand. I stitch with kaleidoscopic threads through luscious, dyed, painted, layered tactile cloth. Exploration is a part of my studio process, and stitching on paper laminations are a present focus. I love the repetitive action of threading the needle, tying the knot, and anticipating the first stitch in the embroidery.

MY INSPIRATION
The world is an endless source of inspiration. In Georgia O’Keeffe’s words,”Take time to look.” Inspiration is found in the miniature insect life in my backyard, in words and unvoiced thoughts, and in forgotten memories. It is found in childhood dreams of endless fields of sweets.
Inspiration is fleeting, a momentary vision, a brilliant idea, a subject worthy of pursuit, and intellectually and emotionally stimulating.
